I think content creators are pretty prone to this - during the “FUCK YOU” stream Lewis waddled wildly between “flirting” and “chatting” because you couldn’t get the words “sexual harassment” out of his mouth with pliers. It’s like you think you’re some kind of cartoon character who will start drooling and jiggling at the word ‘cookie’ and you’re trying to hide it by not saying the word. If you could shout “I didn’t eat your birthday cookies out of the cookie jar!” with your whole chest, that would be fairly convincing. My favorite tell… I’m sure there’s a real word for this but I suppose you could think of it as the crime-as-a-swear-word tell. But average people show their hands somehow. You might think you’re some kind of lizard, a criminal mastermind who can just lie believably enough that everyone actually thinks you didn’t do it. Let’s say you snuck into the kitchen the night before your sibling’s birthday and ate every single birthday cookie out of the jar.

I felt like, oh sure, this is Bea mining the audience’s sympathy for views (hence “I’VE REACHED MY LIMIT” without actually stopping or changing anything) in the most generic way and there’s nothing to comment on, but it did bring something to mind I wanted to discuss. And then sometimes i sit there and i’m like well then again if i’m questioning this, is that because other people are making me feel that way, and then it’s not true, or maybe i am a good person, and it’s like a never-ending cycle. Am i a good person, am i as nice as i think i am, am i as- you know- understanding as i think i am? And i’ve been questioning myself a lot lately as a result of this kind of like level of nastiness that i’ve been experiencing to the point where i’m starting to believe that maybe i’m not as good of a person that i thought i was, or was trying to strive to be. And it just feels really exhausting because i spend so much of my time trying to do good things and i’ve ended up questioning myself a lot lately. I don’t know it’s just really irritating in a way there’s a lot of things lately that have been bothering me in the way that people have been speaking to me or treating me.
